2010 SCHEDULE – 11th Annual Komen Brainerd Lakes Race for the Cure®  Forestview Middle School  Friday, June 25Â10:00 am – 6:00 pm                     Pre-registration & Packet Pick-Up                      Shop for the Cure Saturday, June 26 7:00 am   - Same Day Registration & Packet Pick-Up                      Sponsor tents & Shop for the Cure open 8:00 am  - Invocation & National Anthem 8:05 am  - Aerobic Warm-Up 8:25 am  - Breast Cancer Survivor Photo8:35 am  - Dove release (see details below)Â
8:45 am  - 5K (3.1 miles) Race (USA T&F MN-06039-RR)  8:47 am  - 5K & 1 Mile Walks 9:45 am  - Kids for the Cure Races (for ages 2-10) 10:15 am  - Awards Ceremony & Door Prizes   This event will occur rain or shine. We reserve the right to cancel in extreme circumstances. In that event, there will be no refund, rather, your entry fee will be used as a donation to the Komen Brainerd Lakes Race for the Cure®. For the safety of all participants, inline skates and pets are discouraged at this event. Thank you for your cooperation.  All Participants Receive: ·        Race shirt to 1st 2400 registered ·        Free refreshments & give-aways ·        Eligibility for valuable door prizes: DROP YOUR BIB TAB AT THE PRIZE TENT THEN CHECK THE PRIZE BOARD AFTER THE RUN AND WALKS FOR THE WINNING BIB NUMBERS (must be present to win.)  5K Race Awards: ·        Top 3 Women & Men overall ·        Top 3 “Breast Cancer Survivors†·        1st Place Master Survivor (age 40-54) ·        1st Place Senior Survivor (age 55+) ·        Medals (#)in each age group for women & men:=<13 (5), 14-18 (5), 19-29 (5), 30-39 (5), 40-49 (5), 50-59 (3), 60+ (3) ·        Awards to 1st Men’s & Women’s Teams; Ribbons to fastest 7 members of top 3 teams. 5K Team members must be registered by Friday, June 25 ·        Results will be posted on www.komenbrainerdlakes and on www.raceberryjam.com. Kids for the Cure® - Races for ages 2-10 are on the track at age appropriate distances. Each child will receive a special goody bag courtesy of Kiwanis.  Friends for the Cure® - Collect extra donations to aid in the fight against breast cancer and be eligible for American Airline tickets and thank you premiums. Your efforts will save lives. See the website for details. Survivor Tent – sponsored by ‘A Woman’s Choice’ on Race Day holds special treats, prizes and photo opportunities exclusively for breast cancer survivors. Sponsor Tents – National and local sponsors will have various give-aways and refreshments for participants. Shop for the Cure® – A wide selection of exclusive Komen merchandise will be available for purchase.  Doves for the Cure® – Immediately following the Survivor Group Photo and before the start of the 5K run, 75 or more ‘doves’ (actually homing pigeons) will be released to represent the soaring spirits of our breast cancer survivors. You may ‘sponsor’ a numbered bird for $5. If your bird gets home first, you will win a $100 gift card from Cub Foods-Brainerd/Baxter. The last one in wins a $20 gift card to Kentucky Fried Chicken. Sponsor as many as you like to better your odds. The birds reach their home near Garrison within a half hour, so the winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony. Door Prizes – the corner tab from your bib is your entry. Drop it in the drawing container at packet pickup on Friday or at the Prize Tent on Race Day. Winning numbers will be drawn while you walk or run and the numbers posted on the results board and at the prize tent. Be sure to check for your number when you return. You must be present to win.    |
